BATTLE OF BLAAUWBERG 200 year ANNIVERSARY

The Battle of Blaauwberg happened 200 years ago (1806) when the Britain decided - that because of the danger of the French taking the Cape Colony and using it to block British ships to the Far East - to take over the Dutch Colony. They arrived in Cape Town with over 60 ships and 7000 troops a battle insued later between the 7000 British troops and 5000 Dutch Cape Colony troops (a mixture of Dutch , coloured and French).
